Scrolless ("we," "our," or "us") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the Scrolless mobile application (the "App"). Our core philosophy is "On-Device Privacy": your data belongs to you and never leaves your phone.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide

App Selection Tokens:

When you select apps to block, Scrolless uses Apple's FamilyControls API. We receive opaque "tokens" representing these apps. We do not have access to, nor do we store, the specific names, icons, or categories of the apps you choose to block.

Geofence Data:

You define "Focus Zones" by selecting a location and radius. This coordinate data (latitude and longitude) is stored locally on your device and is never uploaded to our servers.

Protection Settings:

Passwords or "Verify-to-Unlock" settings are encrypted and stored locally in your device's secure keychain or App Group container.

1.2 Information Collected Automatically

Location Status (Geofencing):

To enforce location-based blocking, the App uses iOS Region Monitoring. We process your location to determine if you are "Inside" or "Outside" a zone. Precise GPS breadcrumbs or movement histories are not recorded or stored.

App Usage Data:

Scrolless utilizes Apple's Device Activity API to monitor usage and enforce schedules. This data is managed by the iOS system sandbox; we do not receive your specific browsing history or personal app content.

1.3 Information We Do NOT Collect
  • Personal identification (name, email, phone number)
  • Payment or credit card information
  • Contacts, messages, or photos
  • Any data that identifies you or your device to us or any third party

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information collected solely to:

  • Provide App Functionality: Triggering shields when you enter a Geofence and managing the "Verify-to-Unlock" timers
  • Enforce Accountability: Ensuring that apps remain locked until a physical location check is performed
  • Local Analytics: Providing you with your own usage stats (stored only on your device)

3. Data Storage and Security

Local Storage Only:

No data is transmitted to external servers. All configuration files stay in secure iOS App Group containers.

Encryption:

iOS-level encryption protects your settings. We cannot access your data even if we wanted to, as we do not host a database.

Data Retention:

Your data is deleted immediately and permanently when you uninstall the App.

4. Apple Frameworks & Permissions

Scrolless relies on the following Apple Services, subject to Apple's Privacy Policy:

  • Family Controls: To authorize app shielding
  • Managed Settings: To activate the "Shield" on distracting apps
  • Device Activity: To handle the background scheduling and re-locking logic
  • Core Location: Required (Set to "Always") to allow the app to trigger blocks the moment you enter a Focus Zone, even if the app is closed

5. Location Privacy

Purpose:

Location is used exclusively to trigger the blocking/unblocking logic.

Control:

You can revoke location permissions at any time in iOS Settings. Note that revoking "Always" access will disable the automatic geofencing feature.

No Tracking:

We do not track your route or sell your location data to third parties or advertisers.

6. Your Rights (GDPR & CCPA)

Because all data is stored locally, you have the ultimate control:

  • Access/View: You can see all your zones and rules directly in the App
  • Deletion: Uninstalling the app acts as a "Right to be Forgotten," as it wipes all local data
  • Withdrawal of Consent: You can stop all data processing by revoking Screen Time or Location permissions in your iPhone Settings

7. Children's Privacy

Scrolless does not knowingly collect information from children under 13. As no data is transmitted to our servers, we do not maintain a database of any user information.
